Fenbendazole has shown significant antitumorigenic effects in experimental models, including lymphoma, mammary tumors, and nonsmall cell lung carcinoma. It inhibits tumor growth by disrupting microtubules, essential for cell division, and reducing glucose uptake in cancer cells, leading to their death. In combination with vitamin supplements, it significantly inhibited tumor growth in SCID mice, with studies showing decreased tumor size and vascularity at 1 mg every other day for 12 days in nude mice.

In experimental models, fenbendazole improved locomotor scores and reduced lesion size in spinal cord injury, with less astrogliosis observed. Significant improvements were seen by day 42 post-injury in C57BL/6 mice, and flubendazole, another benzimidazole, showed similar benefits by day 7 in rats.

Fenbendazole has a good safety profile and is well-tolerated, even at higher doses, with reports of tolerance at six times the recommended dose and three times the recommended duration.
